Our Journey to Planting Saltwater Communities

My wife and I (Wes and Marie), have been part of several church plants over the past 20 years. God used those 20 years to prepare us for the moment He would call us to step out in faith.

Throughout our journey, we’ve often reflected on how church is done in many places across America. While there’s no single “right” way to structure a church, we’ve seen a shift where some churches feel more like entertainment venues than disciple-making communities. This inspired us to approach things differently, with a focus on living more like Jesus in our day-to-day activities enabling us to reach those that would not visit a traditional church.

Saltwater Communities is our way of answering that call—to make Jesus known and see lives and communities transformed.

About Saltwater Communities

Saltwater Communities is a network of micro churches united by a shared mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that the church is not a building but a family of believers, living out their faith together in everyday life. Our gatherings take place where we live, work, and play, creating spaces for authentic relationships, deep discipleship, and active service in our neighborhoods. Once a month, on Sundays, we come together as one body to celebrate what God is doing across our city.

If you’d like to learn more about how you can be a part of Saltwater Communities, whether you’re ready to see a new micro church emerge or if you would just like to find an extended spiritual family, we think having coffee (or ice cream for those of us that don't like coffee) and connecting with someone from our leadership team is a great next step.
